Privacy Policy

1. Your photos and media

When you choose photos to compress, the App reads them from your device’s media library. If you use the in-app camera option, the App receives the photo you capture.

• Processing is entirely on-device. Images are decoded, compressed and re-encoded by your phone. They are never uploaded, transmitted, or backed up to us or to anyone else.
• Results are saved to your own device, into an album named ktimage in your media library.
• We never see, store, or share your images, because we have no server for them to be sent to.
• If you ask the App to remove the original photos after a run, it hands that request to Android, which moves them to your system Trash / Recently Deleted where supported. On devices running Android 10 or older, that removal is permanent. The App only acts after you confirm the system dialog.

Location data inside photos

The App requests the ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION permission. This does not track your location. It allows the App to read the GPS coordinates that your camera may have embedded in a photo’s EXIF metadata, so that this information can be handled correctly while the image is processed on your device. This metadata is never transmitted to us or to any third party.

Permissions the App uses

• Photos and media (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES) — to let you select images and to save the compressed results.
• Media location (ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION) — to read image metadata during on-device processing, as described above.
• Camera — only if you choose to take a new photo from within the App.

You can grant or revoke any of these at any time in your device settings. Revoking photo access will prevent the App from performing its core function.

2. Information stored on your device

The App saves a small amount of data in its own private storage on your phone. This never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the App:

• Your chosen language (English or Vietnamese).
• Your chosen appearance (light or dark theme).
• A counter used to space out how often a full-screen ad is shown.

3. Advertising

KTIMAGE is free and is supported by advertising delivered through Google AdMob, a service provided by Google LLC. To serve ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK included in the App may collect and process:

• Your Advertising ID (a resettable identifier provided by Android).
• Device information such as model, operating system version, and language.
• Your approximate location, derived from your IP address (typically country or city level — not precise GPS location).
• Interaction data about the ads shown, such as impressions and clicks.

This data is collected by Google, not by us. We receive only aggregate, anonymous performance reports (for example, total impressions and revenue) and cannot identify any individual user from them.

Your choices about ads

• If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the App shows a consent form the first time it runs, provided by Google’s User Messaging Platform. You may choose whether to allow personalised ads. If you decline, ads are still shown but are non-personalised. You can change your choice at any time from within the App.
• On any device, you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads. Deleting it stops personalised advertising across all apps on your phone.

4. What we do not do

To be explicit, KTIMAGE does not:

• Upload, transmit, or store your photos anywhere outside your device.
• Require an account, a sign-in, an email address, or a name.
• Include analytics or crash-reporting services.
• Sell or share personal information with data brokers.
• Track you across other apps or websites for our own purposes.

5. Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Consent — for personalised advertising, obtained through the consent form described in section 3, and for access to your photos and camera, obtained through the Android permission prompts.
• Legitimate interests — for serving non-personalised ads and for the basic, fraud-prevention and frequency-capping functions necessary to deliver advertising at all.

6. Data retention

We do not retain any personal data, because we do not collect any. Preferences stored on your device remain until you clear the App’s data or uninstall it. Data collected by Google through AdMob is retained according to Google’s own retention policies, linked in section 3.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. Because we hold no personal data about you, these rights are exercised most directly by:

• Changing your advertising consent in the App, or resetting your Advertising ID in your device settings.
• Revoking the App’s permissions in your device settings.
• Uninstalling the App, which removes everything it has stored.
• Contacting Google directly regarding data collected through AdMob.

If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Children’s privacy

KTIMAGE is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will act on it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The revised version will be posted at this address with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes will also be noted in the App’s release notes. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
